Free Crochet Patterns vs. Pattern Books

Do you buy your crochet patterns or do you take advantage of all the free patterns you can get online? With so many internet sites today which offer free crochet patterns you would think the pattern book companies would be out of business by now; but they are still going strong.

I ask myself the question why would anyone buy a pattern book when there are so many free patterns to choose from.

One advantage of buying your own book is that the book itself will contain all the information, such as stitch instructions and abbreviations, which you’ll need to complete the patterns.

Also the patterns in these books had to pass through a professional editor to eliminate all errors.

Last but not least, a lot of these patterns are designed by professional designers, which means they are probably more unique and stylish than the free ones you can find online.

But, I have found many free crochet pattern sites, which have tons of excellent patterns and all the help you need. To make it easy for you to navigate to all these sites I’ve built a link list which I’ll be adding to continuously.
